Still Tired...

So this is the 1st day of spring…..snow flurries and all? Let’s by pass this fact and talk about something entirely different.  I got all my work done early today. In my line of work the workload can fluctuate greatly. Fact is there is a lot happening right now but I am taking a break and going to check out for a bit. A last minute mental health break if you will. This week so far has sucked big time. No real reason, just because. You know when all the little things get rolling down the hill and before you know it, it’s a snowball filled with 12,346lbs of shit? Typically each little nugget on its own is harmless but when they join forces...lookout!  During a typical day, you can step right over them. Sometimes as a courtesy I point it out to the guy walking behind so he doesn’t smudge his Nike.  That’s not this week for sure. I am at the bottom of the hill trying to keep my mouth closed as the snowball O’ shit is bearing down.

Another Week....

In an effort to try to get something in writing once a week on this stupid thing…I am going to get it over and done with now before I go to lunch.  What to write about…I have no idea. I suppose I can ramble on like some doddering old man about how remarkably shitty the weather is now, but I will save this for later when I am feeling especially old.

Might as well put up a pic of the most random grilled meal I think I have ever done.
Check out Alton Browns Recipe for The Sprouts

That’s right-Grilled Dogs, Tots, and brussel sprouts. Not really an expertly crafted culinary delight but a meal everyone (less Max) can and will eat.

Unfortunately I don’t have a photo what I did on Sunday but I can tell you about it….Smoked Corned Beef. Picked this little idea up from SYD BBQ (Blog I follow) and I used a “Flat” cut of Brisket. I didn’t know this until Ali mentioned it , but pastrami is smoked corned beef brisket. So I guess you could say we made Pastrami. I liked it, especially just after you cut it. Just like Brisket, to get the best flavor and juiciness you need to consume rapidly just off the carving block as it dries out quick once it’s sliced. This is why you rarely see Brisket just cut at BBQ joints….typically it’s served held in Beef Broth concoction or BBQ sauce.

As a place holder, here is a stock photo of a smoked Brisket

One other thing worth mentioning is that I picked up a bottle of Sticky Fingers Carolina Sauce last week and used it over some chicken splits we made. Not bad. If you are a fan of the mustardy somewhat runny Carolina type sauces go for it.

Tired & Ready For Spring

Today is especially Sucky for me for some reason…I spent three days in KC earlier in the week and the return to the office typically sucks. Reason being is that I need to catch up on all the stuff that piles up while you are away plus following up on all stuff you talked about with the folks in KC. This return was no different and I am still winding some things down and shuffling smaller items to next week. Today especially sucks because it apparently is the first real nice day in what seems to be months. I have my window open, but it’s no replacement.

Why are people A-Holes? Over the last few years doing this job the A-Hole factor has at least quadrupled. Funny, it’s not really the customers that are the problems…it’s the companies that we sell for that have become harder and harder to deal with. Matter a fact- I am typing this waiting on a phone call that I have learned that will never come. I am then forced to turn into the prick that calls and has to politely tell the person on the other end that they don’t get it.  Deadlines exist for a reason right? Well, apparently not to some people.

We had a showing on the house this past weekend with good feedback. Good right? Nothing more than the feedback at this point.  That sucks do a degree but it was indeed positive so the “Hope-O-Meter” ticked north a bit.

Really, really want to go to the woods for a few nights to get broken out of this rhythm we have been in for what seems like forever. I spent some time getting the RV prepped for the upcoming season Saturday. Filled the hubs with grease, adjusted the hitch to help while towing and a few other things. Still have a few details to finish up….I need to build a Dual battery tray to get at least another nights power off the grid.

Winter can go any time now

Getting sick of Winter....Had enough of the snow. Temps in the 60's Saturday will be welcome.
